Our Packaging: Home Delivery Packaging

The UK has come a long way in the last 20 years, but what you can recycle and where, still varies depending on your local council!

Our quest to reduce and eventually eliminate what we send to landfill has led us to replace the taster pots in our shops, change the packaging some of our ingredients arrive in and has seen us install a food waste recycling system, the first of its kind in the UK. We are not where we need to be yet, so on we go!

When it comes to the box that your Home Delivery from us arrives in, we have managed to make it 99% recyclable … but it does require a bit of effort on your part. We are working to make it easier and at the same time, kerbside recycling is improving across the country, but this is how to do it currently:

The box and paper go into paper recycling.

The paper bubble wrap system is an amazing on-demand recyclable protective packaging solution that has it all: cost-efficient, shock-absorbent, scratch-resistant and attractively presents packaged goods in the box. It saves time and space too as this paper packaging can be used for wrapping, cushioning or as block and brace instead of bulky void fill.

The insulation is made from 100% wood wool, which is a natural product made from kiln dried wood shavings. No chemicals are used in the production of wood wool, so it is safe for use with food. Use it to protect goods in transit or as a natural alternative to shredded paper. Our wood wool comes from the excess pine and spruce from managed forests, where in order to maintain the health of the forest they perform the essential process of thinning it.

Cool packs should be defrosted, cut open and the gel poured down the sink (it is biodegradable). The plastic pack is Low Density Polyethylene 4 (MDPE4) and can also be recycled at your local supermarket with your old 5p bags. Or you can, of course, re-use the cool pack; handled carefully, it should be good for at least a year.
